Colonizing Mars: Elon Musk’s Plan to Ensure Human Survival

The creation of autonomous settlements on Mars will insure humanity from possible disasters on Earth and ensure its survival in the future. This was reported by Ilon Musk in an interview with the Fox News TV channel.

“Mars is collective life insurance. Sooner or later all life on Earth will be destroyed by the Sun, which is gradually expanding,” he said. Musk added that humanity has an obligation to become a “multi-planet civilization” because Earth will eventually be “mottled.”

The entrepreneur explained that the main task is to create a city on Mars, the infrastructure of which will be capable of complete self-sufficiency. This will avoid the destruction of the Martian settlement and the interruption of humanity’s development in the event of disasters on Earth.

Earlier, Musk said that at the end of 2026, a Starship spacecraft with a humanoid robot Optimus will be sent to Mars. According to him, if flights to Mars with the robot are successful, then ships with humans could be sent in 2029.
